I was made aware via an email on H-Net of two events happening in the next couple of weeks.
On February 22-23, 2012, Christopher Newport University’s Center for American Studies will host its Fifth Annual Conference on America’s Founding Principles and History. This year’s theme is “Lincoln, the Constitution, and the Nation at War.” Speakers include Allen C. Guelzo, Mark E. Neely, Jr., Gary W. Gallagher, Elizabeth R. Varon, and Lucas Morel.
The lectures on February 23rd will be held in the Ballroom of CNU’s David Student Union. All sessions are free and open to the public, unless where otherwise noted. A complete conference schedule is available at:
On March 9, CNU’s Center for American Studies and The Mariners’ Museum will co-host a lecture by Harold Holzer entitled “Victory without the
Gaud: The Battle of Hampton Roads and the Transformation of Civil War Art.” This event is free and open to the public and will take place in CNU’s Ferguson Center for the Arts, Music and Theatre Hall at 7pm.
